The Grahovo Grand Off-Road Expedition is our longest and most adventurous ride from Herceg Novi. Over 90 km, it crosses the hinterland of Boka Bay from Kameno to the high Krivošije karst, the Austro-Hungarian plateau of Crkvice and on to Grahovo in the heart of old Montenegro.
At Crkvice you ride among the ruins of the garrison town Austria-Hungary built below Mount Orjen. The route then continues through wide karst fields to Grahovo, where in 1858 the Montenegrins led by Grand Duke Mirko Petrović won a decisive battle against the Ottoman army, a victory that led to the recognition of Montenegro’s borders.
Plan 4 to 5 hours on the quad, with stops for photos and stories along the way. The tour is best suited to riders who are comfortable with a long day outdoors and want to see the real, untouched hinterland of Montenegro.
Times are approximate. The pace, the stops and the exact route are adjusted to the group and to the weather and trail conditions on the day.
