Durmitor & Žabljak quad tours are one of the best ways to see the mountains of northern Montenegro. Žabljak, at about 1,450 m one of the highest towns in the Balkans, is the gateway to Durmitor National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of limestone peaks, pine forests and mountain lakes. Our guided quad tours start in Žabljak and at Đurđevića Tara and follow gravel roads and forest tracks to places most visitors never reach.
Durmitor is known for its mountain lakes, which locals call the mountain eyes. The Fish Lake & Devil’s Lake Quad Tour visits Riblje and Vražje jezero, and the Three Lakes Quad Tour adds Zminičko jezero. For the big panorama, the Momčilov Grad Panorama Tour rides to a viewpoint over Žabljak, Black Lake and the Durmitor peaks, while the Veliki Štuoc Summit Tour climbs to 2,104 m.
The Tara Canyon is the deepest canyon in Europe. The Tara Canyon Viewpoint Tour rides from Žabljak to a viewpoint high above it, while the Tara River Quad Ride and the Tara Canyon Off-Road Adventure start at Đurđevića Tara, by the famous arch bridge, and descend through the forest to the banks of the river.
For a real expedition, the Sinjajevina Plateau Expedition covers 90 km across one of the largest mountain pastures in Europe, past shepherd katuns to the lake of Zabojsko jezero. It takes 5 to 6 hours, includes a meal and runs with a minimum of 2 quads.
Prefer to sit back and enjoy the views? Our jeep safaris use 4×4 jeeps driven by a local driver-guide, so nobody needs a licence. The Ring around Durmitor Jeep Safari is an 80 km loop past Momčilov grad, the Sušica canyon, Trsa and the Sedlo pass, while the Tara Bridge Jeep Safari and the Ćurevac & Tepca Jeep Safari visit the Tara Canyon from above and from the river. Prices are per jeep, for your whole group.
Prices are per quad, with one driver and one passenger, from €70 for the 1-hour rides to €300 for the full-day expedition, and you pay on the day. Every tour is led by a professional local guide, and helmets and raincoats are provided. The driver needs a valid car (category B) driving licence; children from 3 years can ride as passengers with an adult driver. Up to 10 quads can ride together.
