Fort Goražda is one of the best-preserved Austro-Hungarian fortifications above Kotor. Built at the end of the 19th century, it stands at a strategic height above the old road towards Cetinje and was part of the ring of forts that made Boka one of the most heavily defended bays in Europe.
What makes Goražda special is its construction: massive stone walls, a dry moat, underground rooms and its famous rotating armoured turret, a rare piece of military engineering that still sits on top of the fort. From the top, the view reaches over the Bay of Tivat, Mount Lovćen and the wider network of old military roads.
The route combines history and nature, with forest trails leading up to the fort and time to explore it on foot with your guide. At 1.5 to 2 hours it is a perfect short adventure, and it combines well with the Vrmac panorama ride for a longer day.
