The Ring around Durmitor Jeep Safari is the most complete way to see the Durmitor massif in one trip. In a 4×4 jeep driven by a local driver-guide, you leave Žabljak for an 80 km loop of gravel roads, mountain passes and viewpoints that most visitors never reach.
The first stop is Momčilov grad, a natural viewpoint over the villages of Tepca and Ograđenica, followed by more viewpoints such as Štuoc. The route then drops to the village of Mala Crna Gora on the slopes of the Sušica canyon and continues between the canyons of the Tara and the Piva into the Sušica canyon itself, with plenty of photo stops. In summer and late spring the river here sometimes forms a lake.
From the canyon the jeep climbs to the villages of Nedajno and Trsa, where a traditional lunch can be arranged, and on past Pišče, Todorov Do and the Prutaš massif to the Sedlo pass, with views of the Durmitor peaks and lakes. The loop closes through the village of Virak back to Žabljak after about 4 hours.
Times are approximate. The pace, the stops and the exact route are adjusted to the group and to the weather and trail conditions on the day.
